Home services

Your ads make the phone ring. How many calls become jobs on the schedule?

HVAC, roofing, plumbing, and home care live on urgent, local, seasonal demand. We build Search by service and by city, wire call tracking to the booked job, and pace budgets to the weather instead of the calendar.

The gap

Trades accounts leak in the same three places

  • Structure

The first leak is structure. One campaign called "Services" with broad keywords buys AC repair clicks in towns you do not serve and drain cleaning searches when you wanted installs. We split by service and by city so every dollar is a decision.

  • Seasonality

The second is seasonality. Demand in the trades moves with heat waves, cold snaps, and storms, while most budgets sit flat all month and go dark exactly when the phone should be ringing. Our software watches pacing daily and we shift budget into the surge instead of finding out in next month's report.

  • Measurement

The third is measurement. In home services the lead is a phone call, and an account that only counts form fills is optimizing on a fraction of reality. We track calls with their source and outcome, and where your CRM knows which calls became booked jobs, we feed that back so bidding learns what a real job looks like.

A homeowner with a dead furnace or a leaking roof calls the first company that looks credible and picks up the phone. Demand like that is won with precise local campaigns, a page that makes calling obvious, and someone answering. Most accounts in the trades buy the click and then lose the job in the last two steps.

How we run a trades account

From an urgent search to a booked job

Campaigns split by the jobs that pay, replacement and install separated from repair, emergency separated from maintenance, each mapped to the cities you actually roll trucks to. Negatives keep DIY research, job seekers, and out of area clicks from taxing the budget.

Each campaign lands on a page about that one service in that area, with your license, your reviews, and a phone number that dominates the screen on mobile. A homeowner in a hurry should never have to hunt for how to reach you.

Calls tracked as first class conversions with source and duration, and where you run ServiceTitan, Jobber, or Housecall Pro, we connect the outcome, so the account knows which campaigns produce booked jobs rather than short wrong number calls.

When the heat wave hits, budget caps should rise the same day rather than after the month closes. Our software watches pacing around the clock and flags the surge, so you capture demand at its peak and pull back in the lull instead of spending flat through both.

Measurement

From the urgent search to the booked job, tracked end to end

A trades account earns its budget on booked jobs, and the phone call in the middle is where most tracking setups go blind. Here is the chain we wire into every account.

  1. Searchservice and city
  2. Ad + landing pageone page per service
  3. Call / formtracked with outcome
  4. Booked jobCRM confirmed
  5. Job valuefed back to bidding
Job value fed back to bidding

When all five steps connect, bidding chases the searches that end in a truck rolling. When the chain breaks at the phone call, the account is guessing.

Answer the phone

The job goes to whoever picks up

A homeowner with water coming through the ceiling calls until someone answers, and every unanswered ring sends your paid click to the next company on the page. Companies spend thousands making the phone ring and then lose the job in the queue on a Saturday afternoon.

Because every paid call is tracked with its source and outcome, we can show you exactly how many calls went unanswered, what hours they came in, and what they cost. Some clients fix it with an answering service, some with call routing to the on call technician. Either way, the report usually pays for our fee the first month it runs.

Home services case

A US home care provider on a small, disciplined budget.

On a budget of roughly 1,500 USD a month, the account produced 14 to 16 leads a month at around 100 USD per lead, and 6 to 7 of those became clients in a typical month. A home care client who stays generates recurring revenue for months, so a lead at that price pays for itself well before the relationship ends. The account was run by the senior specialist who runs Totem accounts.

Capabilities

Built for the trades

  • Service and city Search

Install, repair, and emergency intent bid separately, mapped to your real service area, with tight negatives on DIY and job seeker queries.

  • Local Services Ads

Google Guaranteed placements sit above every result and charge per lead. We handle verification, dispute the junk, and track LSA next to Search as one cost per booked job.

  • Call tracking and CRM feedback

Every paid call tracked with source and outcome. ServiceTitan, Jobber, and Housecall Pro integrations close the loop from click to booked job.

  • Service landing pages

A page per service per area, license and reviews up front, phone first on mobile. Built and tracked as part of the campaign rather than bolted on after.

  • Seasonal budget pacing

Daily pacing checks and surge alerts, so heat waves, cold snaps, and storm weeks get budget while they are happening.

  • ChatGPT Ads

Homeowners ask ChatGPT who to call now. We run early mover campaigns on OpenAI's ad platform with the same call tracking behind them, while the clicks are still cheap.

Our take on AI

AI does the reading, humans do the deciding

Our in house layer runs the weekly account health checks, watches budget pacing against the season, and queues search terms and anomalies for a person to judge. The moves that carry money stay with a senior operator who owns your account. It is real tooling we run on every account we manage, and it never clocks off.

Common questions

Home services questions we hear

01Our leads dry up outside the season. Can ads fix that?

Ads cannot invent demand, but they decide how much of the existing demand you win. In season, the account should surge with the weather so you capture the spike at full capacity. Off season, we shift budget toward the services that still move, maintenance plans, installs booked ahead, indoor work, and cut the rest rather than spending flat into thin air. The honest answer is that a good account is aggressive in the surge and disciplined in the lull, and most accounts do neither.

02Should we be on Local Services Ads or regular Search?

Both, run as one system. Local Services Ads carries the Google Guaranteed badge, sits above everything, and charges per lead, which often makes it the cheapest booked job in town. Its volume caps out and you cannot steer the message. Search takes over from there: the specific services you want more of, the neighborhoods you want to own, the story that separates you from the two competitors above you. We track both into one cost per booked job view and let the numbers set the split.

03We run ServiceTitan. Can you work with it?

Yes. ServiceTitan, Jobber, and Housecall Pro all know which calls became booked jobs and what those jobs were worth, which is exactly the data a paid account needs to bid well. We connect that outcome data back into Google Ads, so the account stops optimizing toward call volume and starts optimizing toward revenue. If your CRM data is messy, we will tell you what to clean up first, because feeding bad outcomes to the bidding is worse than feeding it nothing.

04How big does our budget need to be?

We work best with companies investing 3,000 USD a month or more in ads, or clearly ready to get there. The home care account above shows what disciplined spend can do in a niche with strong client value. In competitive metro HVAC or roofing, clicks cost enough that a smaller budget cannot buy the data the account needs to learn. In the proposal we tell you what your market's click prices actually support, and if the honest answer is that ads are premature for you, we say so.

05How do you charge?

A flat monthly management fee, agreed in the proposal once we have seen your account, your service area, and the landing pages involved. Your ad budget is billed by Google directly to your own card, in your own account, and we never mark up media. There is no long commitment, because we would rather earn the relationship each month than trap you in a contract.

06Do we keep our account if we leave?

Yes. Your Google Ads account, your Local Services Ads profile, your tracking, and your landing pages are yours. We build inside your accounts rather than hiding your campaigns in an agency shell, and if we ever part ways you keep everything, including the call tracking history. We earn the relationship each month, which is how it should work.

Send us your account. We will show you which jobs your ads are losing.

A three day teardown, no obligation, and an honest read on your call tracking.
